Tim: It's time to have fun at the movies again!
Tim: We got great guests, interesting conversations, sneak peeks at the latest films, and I gotta tell you, sometimes we don't agree on everything!
Tim: It's On Cinema at the Cinema. With me, your host Tim Heidecker.
Tim: Hi, my name is Tim Heidecker. I am the, this is my show On Cinema at the Cinema and it's a show where I talk about movies and give you guys a good.. tell you about what's coming up in the movies. My guest today is Ayaka Ohwaki. And Ayaka, thanks for coming on the show.
Ayaka: Thank you for having me.
Tim: And Ayaka is staying with my family. She's a foreign exchange student from Japan.
Ayaka: Yes.
Tim: And she has agreed to come on the show just to get a couple of- a foreign perspective on movies. It's been wonderful having you stay with us and it's been cool to get to know you, and...
Ayaka: Yes.
Tim: Yes. Are you enjoying your time here?
Ayaka: Yes, I'm so happy.
Tim: Yes.
Tim: Alright. Well, the movies we're talking about today are G.I. Joe... G.I. Joe Retaliation. Directed by John M. Chu, and Channing Tatum again, and again with Bruce Willis, and again with Dwayne Johnson, three of some of my favorite current film stars. I loved this movie. I love thed first one, but somehow they've managed to outdo themselves and makedanother great G.I. Joe film. Your thoughts? So I give it five bags of popcorn.
Ayaka: Um, I'll give one bag of popcorn and a five cups of soda.
Tim: Okay. So you didn't care- or you didn't, because you- one bag of popcorn? Because we, we went to see this last night and you seemed to enjoy it?
Ayaka: I just, not a big fan of popcorn.
Tim: Oh, well, okay. But the popcorn isn't to be eaten. It's just to signify a rev- like a star.
Ayaka: Oh, okay. Then four stars.
Tim: Four bags of popcorn from Ayaka. Very cool. Must be different seeing American movies without subtitles.
Ayaka: Yes, I didn't understand at all.
Tim: Oh boy. Well we also went and saw Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor with the, directed by The Tyler Perry, starring Tyler Perry or, well, Vanessa Williams and the, oh, and Kim Kardashian was in this. Kind of funny to see her in a movie. I thought this movie was funny, not my- you know, not my favorite kind of movie, to be honest with you. But it was, it was okay. You know. I thought it was very well made, so I have to give it four bags of popcorn.
Ayaka: I'll do three bags of popcorn and three cups of soda.
Tim: Did you li- so what did you think of the...?
Ayaka: Um... it's avelage, I think.
Tim: *leans in*
Ayaka: Avelage?
Tim: Okay, average.
Ayaka: Average.
Tim: Yeah.
Tim: Let's take a look at a segment called, On Cinema Presents: Popcorn Classics BTC. Take it away.
*Popcorn Classics Behind The Curtain music*
Gregg: Welcome to another edition of Popcorn Classics BTC. We're here with Mr. Jimmy McNichol. And today we're looking at Smokey Bites the Dust.
Jimmy: Oh boy.
Gregg: The film that you starred in. How many copies of the movie do you own?
Jimmy: I'm actually three, my wife's been collecting them.
Gregg: Did they send you a box of videos?
Jimmy: They sent me one.
Gregg: What's the best place to find it? Flea markets, or internet? Or, what would you say?
Jimmy: On the internet.
Gregg: Why do you think Smokey Bites the Dust is a popcorn classic?
Jimmy:It's got a lot of thrills and action in it. It's just a constant nonstop classic of just chasing, you know, cars and crashing.
Gegg: Was it scary being in the car during the big chases?
Jimmy: No.
Gregg: Do you think the price of DVDs will eventually come down?
Jimmy: Over time they're going to eventually phase out even smaller discs, is at least what technology is saying.
Gregg: Do you think film critics and experts are becoming as important to the movie-going public as actors and directors?
Jimmy: I think it's important that films are reviewed and that there's good viable critics out therethat can actually give the audience the heads up so that they're not wasting their time going and seeing a movie that really is just okay.
Gregg: I love your hit single from the '70s called "He's a Dancer", can we expect more music from you in the future?
Jimmy: Absolutely. As a matter of fact, in the beginning of 2013 I'll be releasing a new album with music videos. The previews of the music videos can be found at findingjimmy.com.
Gregg: What size of popcorn do you get when you go to the movies?
Jimmy: I usually give a large bag of popcorn, a box of Junior Mints and I eat the popcorn and the Junior Mints together at the same time.
Gregg: Thank you so much. Back to you, Tim.
Tim: All right. Well, that was cool.
Ayaka: Yes.
Tim: Good to see Gregg. Thanks, Gregg, for that segment. And uh, alright. Well, that's our show and it was thanks for coming on the show.
Ayaka: Thank you.
Tim: See you back at home.
Ayaka: Yes.
Tim: And uh, she actually taught me how to make sushi the other night, which was neat. Thanks for watching.
